Operation Bunny (Wings & Co), by Sally Gardner

‘Well smack me with a kipper and call me a haddock.’

A wonderfully quirky read, perfect for age 7 upwards, with brilliant illustrations from David Roberts.

As a baby Emily Vole is abandoned in a hatbox at Stanstead Airport, and is then adopted by the Dashwoods, a materialistic couple that treat Emily more like a slave than a daughter.

After months of household chores and having to sleep in the utility room, Emily discovers her next-door neighbour, Miss String and her pet Fidget – a six foot tall, talking cat. From then on it's mishap and adventure all the way for Emily and her new friends, in the shape of a train carriage full of pink rabbits, a mean witch and a set of walking keys.

I loved Operation Bunny. I loved it so much that I read it in the car on the way back from Nottingham. This is a big deal. I get extremely travel sick.

Operation Bunny is the first in the Wings & Co series. The second, Three Pickled Herrings, is out now.
